The end of my corporate world

By | November 24, 2015

I have been working in the corporate world for the past 19 yrs and it is clear to me that MNCs no longer value human talents, but they only treat humans as part of the staff costs and also keep the remaining workers to do the core jobs. The end of my corporate world.

MNCs retrench workers

MNCs have been retrenching workers despite these workers have given their time and sacrifice for the company, yet in return, they are being compensated either by a certain package that follows company employment contract (being fair to the workers) or worst some of MNCs compensate in accordance to the in-country regulations whereby they choose the lowest salary category (morally being injustice to the workers). By this I mean, some of the companies instead of compensating the worker for either 1-year service equates to 1 month of his/her salary, but the company chose to compensate the worker a small fraction of his/her salary in accordance to in-country law. You may not believe this, but it happened to me.

End Of Corporate World

I decided to step out of employment world where I do not want to be bullied any longer by my previous supervisor/s and also the way they compensated me is something I find it amusing. More importantly, the commitment I made when I close deals for my potential clients. I realized the company I worked for was not able to deliver the services and often times, I had to work as sales, project management and operations in order to fulfill the total customer experience.

Though I suffered in terms of doing multiple things but I gained the knowledge of the ability to start my company to provide something similar or better service to my clients. Instead of relying on MNC to provide a job for you, why don’t I provide a service to my clients?

Obviously, starting on my own will mean there are no references or big names to rely on.  It is the relationship that you have developed over the years with your clients who know you and they will support you.

Starting a company will not be easy as it requires not just support from your clients but also ability to do other functions as well.

Note: Will I return to the corporate world again? I hope not but given a chance, I will still prefer to have control of my own life and ability to do something that I like and make a difference to this world.

Next posts, I will spend some time to talk about TRUST, ETHICs and TEAMWORK.

Do drop me any comments regarding getting out of employment and start on your own.

You are so right about the MNC. I worked on my first one for 13 years and I did not even get a severance, just a single Goodbye and a shake of hands. My 2nd one lasts for 18 years now and they are hiring universities”s students to do our jobs at a less cost.
So I would rather use my learned skills to start my own business, hopefully online from home with no big overhead.

      Daniel,

Amen. Use our skills for to help others rather than let the boot lickers or people with lower integrity to make use of us. There are so many people who would sacrifice their integrity for money. That is sad cos life is so short and unpredictable.

I haven’t worked for an MNC, but I was made redundant last year by the corporation I worked for, for 16 years. I didn’t want to go out an just get another 9 to 5 job, but decided I wanted to work for myself.

So I started my website last year and it hasn’t been easy as it has taken a bit of getting use to me being my own boss.

What I like about it is that I can potentially earn more than I was earning before and do something completely different to my previous job.

I do like what you have done where you have gained much knowledge working for an MNC and using the knowledge in your own business and being in charge of the service you provide to your clients, that they come to expect from you.
